There are so many different types of yoga out there: Bikram, Vinyasa flow, and even goat yoga! But we never heard of Buti yoga until recently. To learn more about the technique that’s taken the world by storm, we went straight to the woman who started the whole craze – celebrity trainer and Buti yoga founder Bizzie Goldto. If you’ve been wondering what is Buti yoga?, then on keep reading!

1. What is Buti Yoga?

The first thing to know? This methodology  incorporates primal movements. “When we talk about primal movement, we’re talking about rotational movements – shoulders [and] hips throughout the core,” explains Bizzie. “We’re also talking about deep joint stabilizers, so all the muscles […] stabilize both the shoulder joint, the hip joint, [and] also the deep core.” Bizzie also says the primal movements were not meant to be sexy. “I tell people all the time – it’s more about channeling your inner gorilla,” she adds. Don’t let all of this this daunt you! Bizzie says you don’t have to be in shape to do this workout – it will get you in shape.

2. The Spiral Structure Technique

Next, Buti yoga uses the spiral structure technique. “We look at the body as a cylinder, and we work it using the spiral structure technique,” shares Bizzie. That’s a term Bizzie created to describe the spiral movements which activates all your ab muscles — and it’s fun! Bizzie says the spiral movements bring all the ab muscles to mid-line which means it’ll help you sculpt out those abs.

3. Is Buti Yoga Cardio?

Finally, Buti yoga is a great cardio workout! “Buti definitely has a ton of cardio,” informs Bizzie. “In fact, most people burn an average of 600 to 900 calories per class…And the way it’s structured, we end up getting the benefits of a HIIT workout in a yoga class.” Um, sign us up, please!
