1. Downtown Denver, Colorado
We’ll kick off our tour of some of America’s most beautiful places in the Mile High City with some help from our friends at the Denver Channel. Denver 7 Meteorologist Lisa Hildage and Morning News Anchor Molly Hendrickson say Downtown Denver’s weather is often quite perfect. In fact, they’re known for its 300 days of sunshine. So it’s the perfect place to get out and enjoy the outdoors, even within city limits.
Denver locals love visiting the 16th Street Mall. This pedestrian promenade stretches through Downtown, where you can walk through the shops, or just enjoy the sun on a patio. But if you want a little more of nature, walk a few blocks over to Confluence Park. The park sits in the shadows of Denver’s high rises, and is the perfect spot to cool off on a hot day. And the best part, Downtown Denver sits right up against the front range, which means you can hop in a car and hit the Rocky Mountains in just about 20 minutes.
2. Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Home to some of our country’s most iconic beer brands, Milwaukee is also an outdoor paradise. The Milwaukee River winds through Downtown’s various neighborhoods, offering everything from parks to secluded riverside hideaways. You can experience the fun with a kayak rental, starting at about $65 for four hours.
3. West Palm Beach, Florida
Last on our trip is the Winding Waters Natural Area. Marine Scientist Shwan McAll says that the massive 548-acre park is an oasis that offers everything a nature-lover would want. There’s no charge to visit Winding Waters, but be sure and watch out for gators.
