Recipe: How to Make the Perfect BLT with Avocado Sandwich

Avocados are blowing up in popularity across the country, and there are tons of ways you can incorporate them into your diet. Whether it’s avocado toast for brunch, or a spicy guacamole to snack on, there’s a recipe for everyone. So we reached out to Chef Mario Gebran, from U.S. Egg, who’s showing us how to make a one-of-a-kind AVO-BLT with a Twist that will make it straight into your recipe box.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz yellow peppers
  • 1 oz green peppers
  • 1 oz red peppers
  • 1 oz jalapeño peppers
  • 1 oz red onions
  • 2 oz cilantro
  • Juice of one lime
  • 1/2 of an avocado
  • Sea salt to taste
  • 3 slices of bacon, cooked
  • 1-2 pieces of lettuce
  • 2 slices of tomato
  • 2 slices of whole wheat bread, toasted

Directions:

Finely chop the first six ingredients (peppers through cilantro). Add it to a medium-sized mixing bowl. Add in half of an avocado, squeeze the juice of the lime and use a fork to mash everything together until it becomes a smooth paste. Apply the paste to both sides of the toasted whole wheat bread and construct your bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. Finally, taste and enjoy!
